Commercial Recycling
Commercial recycling processes, starting with a commercial paper shredder, are your easiest solution to meeting some of your data protection obligations.
Corporate documents and information responsibilities
Under the GDPR, you have various responsibilities to protect the security of personal data. A key responsibility is to ensure you have adequate systems in place to ensure there are no data breaches. Additionally, you have a responsibility to destroy and delete data which you no longer need.
Since the introduction of the GDPR, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has brought action against nearly 200 companies for failing to meet their obligations. Fines are split in to two tiers. In terms of document disposal and corporate recycling, the second tier is of most importance.
The second tier of ICO action under the GDPR, relating to Article 83(5), could see you fined up to €20m or 4% of your global annual turnover (whichever is higher), if you fail to meet your obligations.
Use a commercial shredder for commercial recycling
Your easiest solution to meeting your obligations for secure destruction of documents, which contain personal data and confidential information, is to use a reputable commercial shredding company.
On Time Shred uses a commercial paper shredder, either on or offsite, to shred all paper documents to the size required by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI). We then securely transport the shredded documents to a UK recycling plant.
Here, 100% of your paper waste is recycled, ensuring you meet your commercial recycling obligations. You are given a Recycling Certificate to demonstrate this.
How to organise commercial recycling
At On Time Shred, we take your data destruction needs seriously, particularly when it comes to paper-based waste, tying our processes in with best recycling and environmental practice.
We arrange for secure lockable bins and cabinets to be positioned within your corporate environment. This enables staff to securely dispose of, or store, confidential documents as they await destruction.
You can then choose between using our onsite commercial paper shredder, or for the bins and cabinets to be collected and securely transported to our commercial shredder at our disposal site. In both instances, the shredded documents are then transported to a UK commercial recycling plant, where 100% of your paper waste is recycled.
Our service is efficient, secure and enables you to meet your legal obligations and is carried out in accordance with European Standard EN15713:2009. Each of our employees has been vetted and checked, and passed the BS7858:2012 security check.
